Dear Students & Parents,

We just heard from Mr. Ziegler that school is closed on Monday. Please read the information below. Feel free to text or email me for updates. You can also look at my website, class.smls5.com, for updates. I'll update under "Class Announcements" as I hear anything new from Mr. Ziegler. As far as I know now, we'll meet again on Tuesday. See you at 7:45 am! Be safe during the storm, and be prepared to discuss your "storm stories" when we return -- this is all part of our Weather and Climate unit in science!

See you soon!

Severe Weather Information Release

Status As of 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 25th:

The administration of SML (AIM: Administrators in Ministry)  is working closely with local emergency management officials to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Isaac and the potential effect it may have on Southwest Florida.

It is the judgment that closing school is necessary. Officials have issued a Tropical Storm Watch for parts of Southwest Florida while other areas are under a Hurricane Warning. While the exact impact of the storm is not known, officials believe there is the potential for torrential rain, possible flooding in various areas of Lee County and high winds that could cause power outages.

SMLS WILL BE CLOSED for Monday, August 27th, 2012. All schedule events and activities are canceled!

Throughout the inclement weather days, the administration of SML (AIM:Administrators in Ministry) will continue to work closely with local emergency management officials to determine the course of action for future days, based on the threat the weather system may pose to our area.

The administration of SML (AIM: Administrators in Ministry)  will determine the status of  SMLS for the rest of the week as soon as possible, depending on the circumstances and updated information surrounding the current weather system.  http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

http://www.nbc-2.com/Weather/Florida-DopplerZoom.shtml

Whenever new information on the status of SMLS is available, it will be conveyed to the community and media as quickly as possible.  SMLS uses NBC2 / ABC 7 as the official television source, WINK   96.9 FM as the official radio source.

Parents should make sure all phone numbers and email addresses in the database system are current.  Call 939-1218 to give the office staff updated information for the database system.
